Midsize family sedans are too damn low!
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
I’m not that old, but I do have the occasional back and knee pain and all of them are as low as some sports cars. I understand the reasoning from manufacturers that CUVs are the new family vehicle and making sedans more sport increases the appeal, but not at the cost of headroom and ease of ingress/egress IMO. Or maybe I’m one of those few who wants to keep driving a sedan as a family car as long as I can and my minority opinion doesn’t matter.

I think it’s more about seat height than ride height IMO

Ride+Seat , The new Accord is the worst offender of them all. I was like WTF? How can anyone but a gymnast get in and out of this thing?

Reminds me that I just saw an X1 and Charger side by side. Charger is 58.5" tall, The BMW crossover is 60.8 ”.
Also the new Camry is 57 ... so grounded.

One of the reasons I’m considering the Charger next. The h e ight, space , and seats are perfect for me.

the first time I sat in the Insight, I thought it was way too low..despite being o nly 2 inches shorter than my TLX, I feel like you fall into the seats.

The one that gets me is the Taurus, which is 60.7"

My dad is 72 and dailies a 1971 Datsun 240z. He will drive that car until he has to call for an assist to get out.

Make child car seats lighter, and people will buy more sedans.

I know nothing about child seats,
but I can only
assume the super low height and low “coupe-like” roofs are only giving parents more inconvenience be it installing or putting and removing kids in them.
Several of my friends who have kids say “You use that child seat 10 times a day every day and you’ll be running to your nearest dealer to get a crossover before you know it”

You are right that it is important, although I d ont have a height problem with my focus st.

They are almost right; they should buy minivans, not crossovers.

Can confir m. It was a bitch in my Malibu I had for a little while, and in the Mazda 3 my wife used to have. Getting a baby in and out is about a thousand times easier in her CX-5.

Hey one manufacturer still gets* sedans!
*Or actually doesn’t seem to understand the core concept...

Cars have been getting lower and lower every generation, and I suspect it’s part of the reason for the shift to SUVs. Maybe the Five Hundred was ahead of its time
